Mdewakanton Emergency Services, Shakopee Fire Department along with other Scott County Emergency Service Agencies have blended a training program based off of the Federal compliant NIMS program that illustrates the use of the NIMS components through local target hazards. This training is available to all Scott County public safety agencies to assist them in meeting the 2006 and 2007 training deadlines.

This course introduces NIMS and takes approximately three hours to complete. It explains the purpose, principles, key components and benefits of NIMS. The course also contains examples giving you an opportunity to demonstrate the basic understanding of the ICS system.

ICS 100, Introduction to the Incident Command System, introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher-level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

ICS 200 is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS-200 provides training on and resources for personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the ICS.
IS-100 is a pre-requisite to the IS-200 course.
NIMS Compliance
ALL of these courses are based off of the Federal programs and tests and are fully NIMS compliant. The students will be completing the Federal level tests for certification.
